Packed auditorium for the launch of the 2018 Edition

Jean Jouzel and Gaël Giraud lead climate discussion to packed auditorium and the launch of the 2018 Deauville Green Awards

Salle Mistral of the French Development Agency, Paris, 13 February, 2018

The 7th edition of the Deauville Green Awards was launched in front of an audience of 200 journalists, filmmaking professionals and environmental experts who gathered to take part in a dialogue between climatologist, Jean Jouzel and economist, Gaël Giraud, that centred on “After COP23” (in Bonn) and “Climate Summit (in Paris), what solutions are there for the planet?”

This fascinating and pertinent discussion between Jean Jouzel, 2007 Nobel Prize winner with the IPCC, and Gaël Giraud, Chief Economist with the French Development Agency, addressed new solutions for climate change in the form of: citizen’s initiatives, European referendums, carbon taxes, financial regulations, kilometric taxes, and the need for an investment of over a trillion Euros to help in the transition towards green living.

In its 7th year, the Deauville Green Awards has become the meeting place for all innovations regarding sustainable development and green, responsible audio visual communications. It provides a platform for industry professionals to promote their films and their messages, in a competitive festival with an internationally regarded prize, the Green Award d’Or.

As with every year, the festival will bring together key players across multiple sectors, such as, ADEME, AFD, the World Bank, the BBC, the BNF, IDF Film Commission, I’Ifremer, Euronews, France TV, the UN, Orange , National Parks, Publicis, RTBF, Radio Canada, SNCF, TF1, Ushuaia TV, WWF, ZDF, innovative start-ups as well as numerous journalists, producers, directors and agencies.

Jean Jouzel, 2007 Nobel Prize Winner with IPCC, will head, in partnership with the festival’s scientific committee, this year’s 2018 programme. “When we search, it’s not enough to find, you have to make it known.” This is the very essence of the Deauville Green Awards and for the past 7 years, we have striven to use the power of the moving image to reveal, denounce, promote, explain and raise awareness for the greater public.

A rich programme awaits those who attend the festival across the 19th & 20th of June in Deauville:
> A series of expert-led roundtables dedicated to Water (in connection with the World Water Forum held in Brasilia this March)
> Workshops led by key players: Ecoprod, TF1, Ministry of Culture…
> And also, a great number of screenings available to the general public
